WESTOW STREET CORDONED OFF FOLLOWING ACCIDENT
WESTOW STREET was cordoned off for more than three hours yesterday (Wednesday) following an accident.
Traffic coming along Church Road from Beulah Hill was directed by police, who had blocked one side of the road, down Fox Hill.
The accident occurred near the post office on Westow Street.
Pritesh Patel, owner of the shop which houses the post office, said a lady had been injured in the accident.
“She hurt her head very badly. “There was a lot of blood on the road. “Police sealed the road off.
“There was a period when no-one was coming into the shop. “A lot of people were affected by it.”
Some neighbouring shops on Westow Street had police tape running literally against their front doors and were unable to let customers in for more than three hours.
A Scotland Yard spokesperson told News From Crystal Palace: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to Westow Street, SE19 on Wednesday 4 November at 12:07 hours to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
“Officers and LAS attended and a woman in her 70s was found at the location.
“She was taken to a south London hospital in a serious but stable condition where she remains.
“Her injuries are not being treated as life threatening.”
