SUMMER ACTIVITY PROGRAMME – AND NEW CAFE – AT BARNARDO’S
Fun activities to keep children entertained throughout the summer holidays will run every week day at a centre run by Barnardo’s for all families living in or near Crystal Palace.
From July 25 until September 2, themed play and craft sessions and multi-level soft play will be on offer from Monday to Friday at The Triangle building in Coxwell Road (behind Sainsbury’s Westow Street) running every morning from 9.30am to 12pm and every afternoon from 1.30pm to 4pm.
The Triangle’s in-house café has also just launched, serving locally baked cakes and gourmet coffee roasted 10 miles away in Hackney, east London, and the centre’s Barnardo’s shop has reopened with a focus on high quality, affordable children’s clothes and toys.
Special programmes and one-off events will also run throughout the summer in The Triangle’s refurbished training and meeting space.
Rajinder Nagra, manager of the Triangle, said: “We’ve got an action-packed summer ahead and we’re really proud of our new café.
“Like everything that we do it’s about offering really high quality at an affordable price, and the same is true in our shop which is now well stocked with summer clothes for children.
“Our customers really appreciate the fact that every penny we raise goes back into improving The Triangle and supporting Barnardo’s wider work with the most vulnerable children, young people and families.
“I’d encourage everyone to come and see us this summer to find out what we have to offer.”
New barista Nicole Haig, 21, from Upper Norwood, said: “I’ve had some really good training from our suppliers about how to grind the coffee beans and use the espresso machine.
“We have a lot of competition from local businesses, so we’ve got to make sure we’re offering top quality coffee.”
All are welcome to join the morning or afternoon summer sessions, which will include separate themed activities in the soft play area for younger children aged 0 to 6, and in the training rooms for children aged seven to 11.
Sessions cost £5.50 for the first child, £4 for the second or third child, £3.50 for children aged 6 months to 1 year, or £3.50 per child for families who receive benefits. For babies under six months there is a charge of 50p.
Children aged 8 to 11 can be dropped off for music, language, dance and drama workshops run by external providers in the training room. Charges for these workshops are set by each provider.
