STAND UP TO LAMBETH COUNCIL UPDATE – MP BACKS MARCHERS – BRING A PICNIC!
UPDATE: Kate Hoey MP (Lab Vauxhall) is sending a message of support to be read out at the STAND UP TO LAMBETH COUNCIL rally on Saturday (October 8).
The MP, one of three whose constituency covers parts of Lambeth, has a long-standing engagement in Ireland on the day – but has a record of supporting her constituents against “harmful Lambeth council policies” say organisers.
“Meanwhile, work goes on to make for a peaceful, pleasant – but pointed – event.”
At noon in Windrush Square speakers will be joined by:
* a brass band;
* a 13 ft four-headed monster (Organisers say Lambeth residents might just recognise the four faces, understood to be council leader Cllr Lib Peck, cabinet member for housing Cllr Matthew Bennett and cabinet member for culture Cllr Jack Hopkins plus council officer Sue Foster (strategic neighbourhoods and growth);
* banners and effigies produced at an all-day workshop with children at under-threat Cressingham Gardens.
“The emphasis is on holding a peaceful, family-friendly day, with a march to hold a picnic on Clapham Common at 1pm.”
