SPECIAL TREAT FOR SINGLE MUMS ON MOTHER’S DAY – Barnardo’s to offer free breakfast and beauty treatments / CRYSTAL PALACE FOOD MARKET / LIBRARY USERS AT CARNEGIE HERNE HILL ON APRIL 1st – FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF CLOSURE
Single mums can make sure they don’t miss out on a little Mother’s Day pampering by taking advantage of a special event being held by Barnardo’s at The Triangle off Westow Street, Crystal Palace this Sunday.
The Triangle team are encouraging mums to come along to the centre in Coxwell Road (behind Sainsbury’s) for Mothering Sunday on March 26, to enjoy a free breakfast and beauty treatments in a calm and relaxing environment while their children are kept entertained with a party in another room.
The session, called Mum Me Time, will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm. It is aimed at women living alone with children in south London who might benefit from the regular support on offer from Barnardo’s through The Triangle’s lone parents’ group, which meets every fortnight on a Tuesday from 1pm to 2.30pm.
Professional massage therapists and beauticians are booked in to make sure everyone can enjoy a special treat on Mother’s Day at no cost, thanks to donations from the Friends of the Triangle supporters group. Party organisers Magical Quests will be on hand to keep little ones occupied with drama-related play.
Rajinder Nagra, manager of The Triangle for Barnardo’s, said: “Mother’s Day is the one day of the year when all mums should have the opportunity to unwind and be recognised for all the rewarding but exhausting effort that goes into being a parent.
“Mum Me Time is a way for us to ensure single mums don’t miss out on this opportunity to take a break and enjoy a bit of pampering.
“We hope those who take part in this event will come back to The Triangle for the regular support sessions that we offer for lone parents. “Doing it on your own can be really tough, and we want people to know that they’re not alone and the support is out there.”
The Mum Me Time concept was developed by south London entrepreneur Eva Levinson, who has chosen to hand ownership of the brand over to the Friends of the Triangle to help raise funds for Barnardo’s. While all treatments at the Mother’s Day event are free, future events will offer heavily discounted treatments for around £15.
Charlotte Kuofie, who chairs the Friends of the Triangle group, said: “We need to find creative ways to bring in funds so that The Triangle can continue to support the local community in all sorts of ways, and we’re so grateful to Eva for handing Mum Me Time over to us.
“The money we can raise by offering affordable beauty treatments at future events will make a huge difference.”
The next dates for the lone parents’ group at The Triangle are April 4, April 18 and May 2. More Mum Me Time events will also be held later in the year.
To book a place at Mum Me Time or find out more the lone parents group please email [email protected]
The Triangle is a vibrant community hub in Crystal Palace, with a multi-level soft play area (ages 0-6), café, Barnardo’s shop, meetings and events space and more. For more details please visit facebook.com/barnardosthetriangle
