POLICE HELICOPTER JOINS HUNT FOR MOPED RIDER
A police helicopter hovered over the Crystal Palace park area yesterday afternoon (Friday) in a hunt for a moped rider.
A Scotland Yard spokesperson told News From Crystal Palace: “At approximately 13:45hrs on Friday, 5 August officers attempted to stop a moped on Pleydell Avenue, SE19.
“The rider failed to stop and rode towards officers before colliding with parked cars. “The suspect then ran from the scene.
“Officers, including the National Police Air Service, have conducted a search of the area but the man currently remains outstanding.
“The moped has been recovered. “Enquiries continue.”

Cakes – Eat & Mess Kate says “Happy Weekend everyone! We are putting the final touches to our penultimate CP farmers market (SOB!) before we move to pastures new- Come see us (buy cake) and say Hi/Bye! For those that don’t know, we are moving into shiny new kitchen premises (excited hurrah!) in Clapham, whilst we move our family home down to the seaside on the south coast. We’re hoping if we ask reeeeally nicely Laura and Karen will let us pop by now and again though! [Of course we will!]
Enough tears… whats on the cake front this Summery Saturday coming? Here we gooooo: Chocolate Stout Cake – Rich chocolate & London Porter sponge cake, smothered in vanilla bean cream cheese frosting; Naked Lemon Blueberry Sponge – Double lemon sponge cake layered with fresh blueberries, lemon curd & lemon buttercream frosting; Summer Carrot Cake – Carrots, apricots, sultanas & walnuts baked in a cinnamon spiced sponge cake. Topped with cream cheese frosting & toasted walnuts; Victoria sponge cakes, pineapple RUM (thought that would get your attention!) loaf cakes, brown butter pecan chocolate tart (these flew off the stall last week- get in there quick!), coconut raspberry Bakewell slices, vanilla shortbread smileys and always the brownies– choose from rich cheesecake or dark chocolate. Local growing project – Patchwork Farm (a Crystal Palace Transition Town project), selling locally grown food from our community gardens & everyone’s gluts. Get involved and bring in your gluts – or come and man the stall for an hour or so on a Saturday (email Christine if you’re interested in either).
From Christine: Look out for our brand new ‘Herb Bar‘! (Think salad bar, only with herbs!). Customers will buy an empty paper bag for 50p and can then fill it with herbs in whatever combination they want. So if any of you lovely growers have herbs (or anything else edible for that matter) to donate or swap, I’ll be at the market by about 9.45am. Thank you!

Guided history tours around the Crystal Palace Triangle – (6 August) Micha says “We’re passionate about sharing local history and making it more accessible to everyone and so we’ve created a guided tour, where you can discover the history of 10 different sites. See this area in a different light, as we show you images of how sites would have looked, really helping to bring history to life. We will be touring in Crystal Palace on Saturday 6th August. Tickets cost £5 and the tour lasts approx. 2 hours.”
