MEET THE CENTRAL HILL RESIDENTS AT THE FOOD MARKET – THEY ARE HUNGRY FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
This week’s focus is on helping our communities survive and thrive. Come and meet some of the residents from Central Hill Estate who are literally fighting for their homes as they are threatened by regeneration. Join their Facebook page and follow the narrative. Support from the surrounding community can make all the difference to morale.
We’ve also had a plea from our local food bank as all their reserves are running super low. We have a weekly collection point at the bottom of Haynes Lane – let’s smash our 25kg record for a week and help them restock their shelves. (Top of the list: Loo rolls, instant mash, custard, tinned corned beef, tinned tomatoes and tinned fish).
Also, as farmland is being bought for development, farmer Steve Hook is crowd funding to expand his raw dairy farm. Read his story here.
Finally, we’d like to run another free kids book swap, but we’ve run out of books! Please drop donations of children’s books to our Patchwork Farm stall. All proceeds go to the library.
