SAINSBURYS: “WE’ LL TALK TO BUSINESSES OVER CAR PARKING”
Sainsbury’s say they are prepared to talk to local businesses over the issue of car parking at the rear of their store on Westow Street, Crystal palace.
The move follows an approach by News From Crystal Palace following our story that the Crystal Palace and Norwood Chamber of Commerce was calling for a boycott of Sainsbury’s.
We asked Sainsbury’s press office: “The Chamber are urging Sainsbury’s to enter in to dialogue with local traders. “Would Sainsbury’s be prepared to do this please?”
They told NFCP: We’ve looked into this for you and we haven’t had any complaints, but we’d always enter into a dialogue with local businesses.”
Responding, Chamber of Commerce chairman Paul Bartholomew told News From Crystal Palace: “That is great news. “The first part of the response is slightly disingenuous as there is no easy way to issue a complaint to Sainsbury’s.
“However, the willingness to enter into dialogue is much appreciated and we will be taking up that offer.”
The boycott call followed a decision to reduce parking in what was a public car park from three hours to just two. Transgressors face a £70 fine.
