LAMBETHWATCH ONE- DEMOLITION OF COUNCIL ESTATES
Lambeth’s claims that they need to demolish six council estates to help the borough’s homeless look increasingly hollow.
One of the six estates the council want to demolish is the Westbury estate near Wandsworth Road.
So you may be surprised to learn of the following, straight from the lambeth.gov website:
“Welcome to No.7 Fovant Court
“Last month No.7 Fovant Court opened as a new space where all residents can easily come in and talk to somebody about the regeneration of the Westbury estate.
“Lambeth council, Newman Francis (a consultancy firm – Ed.) and members of the development management team will hold regular sessions where people can ask questions, find out more about what is going on and get involved in some more creative projects should they wish.
“Whilst it is a new space, the first sessions have allowed us to meet new people, explain more about the programme and start collecting people’s best memories for the Westbury estate archive over coffee and a slice of cake. (Taken from Lambeth’s own website.)
Meanwhile as Cllr Matthew Bennett, cabinet member for housing (Lab. Gipsy Hill) said of the Carnegie library occupiers in a tweet a while back: “While they knock back wine in the library almost 5,000 homeless Lambeth children go to sleep in temporary accommodation……”
He was responding to a photo of Carnegie library occupiers enjoying food and wine.
While Lambeth council uses a council home to push its regeneration plans on the Westbury estate almost 5,000 homeless Lambeth children go to sleep in temporary accommodation……
Pot. Kettle. Black.
