INTERIOR DESIGNERS Do South have had a new ‘assistant’ working for them – actress Kelly Brook.
The star of Piranha 3D and Keith Lemon: The Movie has been shooting scenes for her new film ‘Taking Stock’ in the shop on the corner of Central Hill and Westow Street- with the Gipsy Hill Tavern also being used for filming.
Noel Douglas of Do South said they had been approached by one of the joint producers Maeve Murphy, who lives locally, with the idea some time ago.
One of the scenes for the film involved signs in the window announcing ‘Closing Down Sale – everything must go’ “A lot of people called me to say ‘Sorry that’s shame – didn’t know you were closing down! ‘,” said Noel. (A handwritten note elsewhere on the front of the shop assured passers-by: ‘We’re not closing!’
Taking Stock, written and directed by Maeve Murphy, is described as a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired feature. Set in London and Paris, it began shooting on July 1st.
The film was developed by Northern Ireland Screen and is based on the short Sushi, also written and directed by Maeve Murphy, which won the Sub-Ti International Short Film Award at the Venice Film Festival in 2011. Co-producer is Geoff Austin with Frank Mannion of Swipe Films as executive producer.

ARE YOU around on Saturday at 2pm? If so, Upper Norwood joint library campaigners would like to hear from you.
“We are aiming to clear grass and weeds from the corner area and enclose the space with some post and rail panels that we have” says library trustee Robert Gibson.
“We would also like to create some raised beds with scaffolding planks or similar timber, transport some mulch and soil to the new beds and collect and lay wood chip. “Things we would like include enthusiastic volunteers, tools, hammers, nails, drills saws etc. shovels, wheel barrow, scaffolding planks and a bench or picnic seating.
“If you are able to supply any of this and can attend we would be very grateful. “We would also like to thank local developer Lightbox for helping us with this project.” IMPORTANT:“If children are in attendance they must be closely supervised by parents or adult carers at all times.”
