Brambletye Farm have new season gooseberries in this week. Yum. Stop by and chat to the new guy on the stall – he’s called Jason.

Due to an abundance of some lines (cucumbers, sorrel and avocados) there has been a price reduction. Also on the stall – blueberries (limited numbers), plum, salad and cherry tomatoes, aubergines, cherries, 2 varieties of radish (from our own ‘in conversion’ site), purple mange tout, new charlotte potatoes, peas, french beans, salad rocket, land cress, wild plums, peaches, limes, clementines and oranges.
On The Farm – It’s been a manic few weeks, with staff managing the land and helping see crops through to harvest while in the barn some exciting new technology has been implemented.. We’re currently trialling a ‘fogging’ machine in our chiller, reputed to help leaf and other crops from carrots to cauliflowers stay at their best. We hope that you can notice a marked increase in the life and quality of already beautiful crops, it’s always sad when they don’t reach market in the way we would like them to!
Elsewhere there’s been a fair bit more work over at the new ‘Old Orchard’ site, with plenty more planting under way our range of salads will continue to increase in the coming weeks; plenty of weeding as ever as well, with squash, kale and brassicas receiving some TLC and the first courgettes starting to roll out last week… Multi coloured and divine, we hope you enjoy them! MAKING IT EASIER FOR YOU TO REGISTER TO VOTE
Are you registered to vote? That’s the question that Croydon council will be asking a quarter of a million residents as the annual voter registration canvass takes place across the borough.
Over the summer, the council will be sending residents a household enquiry form on which they should provide details of all registered electors in the property.
To be delivered to some 250,000 people, the form will provide the name and address details of all who should be on the register of electors – the list of those who may vote at elections and referendums.
If there are no changes to be made, electors can confirm the details online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, or by post, Freephone or text, with contact details provided on the form.
If the elector details need to be changed – for example, to request a name to be included in the voters list – new information can be provided online, or by posting the amended form using the prepaid envelope provided.
An invitation-to-register form will be sent to anybody wishing to be included on the voters list to enable verification of the details, and allow the registration.
Nathan Elvery, Croydon’s electoral registration officer, said: “We’re offering an extensive range of cost-effective options for residents to use and it has never been easier to register.
“Residents should look out for the form as it will provide all the information required, and tell them exactly what they need to do.”
