HELP SHAPE YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD – LAMBETH RESIDENTS ASKED FOR VIEWS ON NEW PLANNING GUIDANCE
Lambeth council are asking local residents for their views on new planning guidance for building alteration and extensions that should make it easier for rear and roof level extensions outside the borough’s conservation areas.
Cllr Jack Hopkins, Lambeth’s cabinet member for jobs and growth said: ‘We know that many people can’t afford to move so building an extension or altering the layout of a property can help with changing family demands.
“Of course the council remains committed to conserving Lambeth’s rich built heritage but we think a more relaxed approach to properties outside the conservation area will help people.”
Although the council’s cabinet has considered the draft Supplementary Planning Guidance, it wants to hear the views of local people before the document is finally agreed. The consultation period runs to Monday 30 March 2015 (5pm)
Copies of the draft SPD can be viewed online at http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/consultations and at the following addresses:
Lambeth Town Hall, Town Hall Parade, Brixton
Phoenix House, 10 Wandsworth Road, Vauxhall
Lambeth libraries
The council will review the feedback and produce a final draft in 2015, with the aim of adopting the SPD along with the Lambeth Local Plan later this year. (Source: Lambeth council press release.)
