HANDMADE CHOCOLATES AND BEEF GOULASH SOUP AT THE FOOD MARKET THIS VALENTINE’S DAY WEEKEND…..
Guest stalls this week
Blowing Dandelion: Handmade chocolates
Guest lunch – Goulash Valley Jozsef tells me they will be making “chicken stew, hungarian sausage and beef goulash soup”
Loose leaf tea & mulled juice – Gipsy Hill Herbs
Cakes – Brett & Bailey Joe says “Fall in love with cake this weekend. We’ll be on the stall with a luscious array of suitably sweet stuff to get you in the mood, including a luxurious red velvet cake; white chocolate & passion fruit cheesecake; and fat squares of sticky date cake – just a minute in the microwave transforms these into rib-sticking toffee puddings.
Regular guests will include apple & salted caramel cake; our signature double carrot cake; fudgy Fairtrade dark chocolate brownies with pecans and fleur de sel; mint choc chip cookies; and our favourite peanut butter bars. Not enough for you? We’ll also have more sticky buns and semlor than we can fit on the stall at once; wedges of our moreish shortbread treacle tart; and we’ll also be introducing our most A-list cake yet (all will be revealed).
We’ll also have our first jars of extra dark, coarse-cut marmalade; the last of our autumn jams; and bags of delicate handmade Turkish delight to share with that special someone (or to finish off before you get home, and pretend it never happened [haha, brilliant advice]). Going to miss us? Don’t worry – our online shop is always open.”
Bickerton’s: Chilli jams
Preserves – Bickerton’s Andrew says “Well we have some new products and a change in supplier. From February we are moving over to using chillies grown in the SE of England. We are very happy to have found a family business in Bedfordshire to supply us. The first product to benefit from this is our new Lemon Drop Chilli Jam. We also have a new hot bbq sauce that you must come and try.”
Chocolates & raw vegan truffles – Blowing Dandelion Michaela tells me they’ll have “chocolate truffles, raw vegan truffles and brownies.” Choose a selection & ask Krystal to put them in a nice box for you.
Gluten free – Sweet Carolina Carolina is promising “Sweet – Coquitos, alfajores, dark chocolate tartalettes, blondie with raspberries, Victoria sponge, carrot cake, lemon & poppy muffins (maybe chocolate too) argentine kisses (ideal for valentines), mini cheesecakes and mini cupcakes. Savoury – courgette tart, spinach & feta tart, cheddar cheese muffins”
Beer – Clarkshaw Brewery
Wine Scouts: Pedro is back
Wine – Wine Scouts Pedro says “I’ll open the beautiful Le Rouge Clos de l’Azerolle from Minervois in France. Deep ruby-red in the glass. Perfumes of cassis, blueberries and spice on the nose. Complex, peppery flavours of black and red fruits, vanilla and a touch of wild herbs. Excellent tannins and balanced acidity with a long finish. Located in the village of Badens to the east of Carcassonne in the Minervois region of the Languedoc, Raymond Julien is a grower to watch. He farms 13 hectares of vines grown on chalky soils. The ‘Rouge de l’Azerolle’ is a blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache from 50 year old vines.” We’ve missed you & your enormous smile Pedro. Welcome back!
