GOOD TASTE on Westow Hill – known primarily for its cheese – is holding a beer tasting on Thursday 14 March.
Says Manish of Good Taste: “We have a number of breweries represented now, from some British classics (like Windsor & Eton Brewery’s best bitter, Guardsman) to some off-the-wall US brews, especially those from the Maryland brewers Flying Dog. At the last count we had around 135 different beers!
“The Flying Dog labels have been drawn by British cartoonist Ralph Steadman, best known for his work with Hunter S Thompson.
“Another brewery I’m really quite excited about is the Wild Beer Company. “They’re based near Shepton Mallet in Somerset, at a cheese dairy! “They rent space from Westcombe Dairy who make one of the finest cheddars available, unsurprisingly called Westcombe Cheddar.
“And, no, we don’t have it in the shop at the moment, we have Keen’s Cheddar (made near Wincanton, Somerset)”
The event is the first of three beer tasting evenings – and there will also be three wine tasting and three cheese tasting evenings over the next couple of months. Details to follow at a later date..
