EDBROOKE TO MEET LIBRARY MARCHERS
A MARCH in support of Lambeth libraries takes place TOMORROW (Saturday 7 November) from Windrush Square, Brixton to Tate South Lambeth library where Cllr Jane Edbrooke normally holds her surgery.
Cllr Edbrooke is Lambeth’s cabinet member for neighbourhoods whose role includes parks, leisure services and libraries.
Meet 10.30 am, march starts 11am.
Gym gear etc encouraged . The march is being organised by Lambeth Unison.
News From Crystal Palace understands Cllr Edbrooke will meet the marchers – despite reports that she had cancelled her surgery when she heard about the march.
Upper Norwood library campaign spokesman Robbie Gibson said: “I love the wonderful community of Crystal Palace as it rallies around its library.
“Posters around the Triangle, at Gipsy Hill station, leaflets in the waiting room. “The Gipsy Hill Cat joins the campaign and is tweeting in support. “There is lots of Twitter and Facebook activity.
“Playgroups are doing posters. “Crystal Palace Mums Facebook group is flexing its muscles, lots of people lobbying politicians, flyers being handed out at the fireworks, wonderful posters and leaflets being produced by David Vallade; local businesses retweeting their support.
“Lots of people planning to attend the march. “All across Lambeth library campaigners are united and support is coming from all four other boroughs. “Trade unions are rallying support and Momentum in just one weekend collected over 1,000 signatures to their petition against the library cuts.
“Local musicians are offering to put together another music event to support the campaign. “Legal advice is being sought “This is a lit fuse that won’t be blown out.”
