LAMBETH’S PLANS FOR CENTRAL HILL UNVEILED TOMORROW /Plus: CRYSTAL PALACE FOOD MARKET’S MENU FOR SATURDAY
Lambeth council will finally be unveiling their long-delayed plans for Central Hill estate tomorrow (Saturday) at Lunham Road community centre. The event runs from 10 am to 3pm.
The following has been posted on the Save Central Hill website by Georgina May:
The “Future” of Central Hill Estate
“Lambeth council would still have you believe that the Central Hill Estate has a future.
If they have their way, the Central Hill eestate has no future.
The future they want, is demolition of the estate, and to build something else in it’s place. It will no longer be the Central Hill estate you know. Your neighbours will no longer be the neighbours you know. The tenancies will be different from the ones you have and the prices will not be in the price bracket you can afford.
You are concerned, understandably, for your futures. You want answers. You want guarantees – something concrete from the council that they are not going to betray us all.
So far, not much in the way of reliable information has been forthcoming from those folks at the council who would turf you from your home without proper justification.
However, as part of the “consultation” requirements, Lambeth will be holding five days of presentations for the residents next week; yup, all in one week. So if you happen to be away next week,……….tough.
The dates and venues are as follows :
Saturday 5th March – Lunham Road Day Centre : 10 am – 3 pm
Monday 7th March – Resource Centre, High Limes, Northwood Way : 10 am – 5 pm
Tuesday 8th March – Resource Centre, High Limes, Northwood Way : 10 am – 5 pm
then Lunham Road Day Centre : 6 pm – 8 pm
Wednesday 9th March – Resource Centre, High Limes, Northwood Way : 10 am – 5 pm
Thursday 10th March – Resource Centre, High Limes, Northwood Way : 10 am – 5 pm
then Lunham Road Day Centre : 6 pm – 8 pm
If you have complete faith in the Council working in the best interests of you and your family and have no fears for your security, then there really is no need to come along to these presentations.”
