Guest stalls this week
Kids – ‘Make & Take’ Christmas ceramic decorations with Beth on the Handmade Palace stall (from £3-£4). For £5 your creation can be fired and glazed, and will be ready to collect from the stall next Saturday. Find them inside Antenna Studios, behind the cafe.
Guest lunch – curries & samosas from Simply Tay: Tayyaba says ” My menu for Simply Tay this week will be in lunchboxes due to winds making it impossible to cook out in the open. Meat option – mince potato & chickpea curry served with daahl and tarka rice. Veggie option – aubergine & potato curry served with daahl and pilau rice. And veggie samosas. All can be frozen or kept in the fridge overnight. My aim is to be at the market by 1230.”
Smoked things from London Smoke & Cure: New this week – smoked duck, eel, chicken. Plus favs smoked salmon, smoked butters and cheese, and to accompany it smoked salt, olives, garlic, cashew-nut butter, and preserved lemons. butter, cheese, garlic, salt and more.

THEY’RE BACK Wine by Le Grappin: Emma says “We’ve been away from the market since August in Burgundy for harvest. Thanks to everyone who followed our progress! But the grapes are now in, and wines are bottled so we will back in the courtyardtomorrow. Amber will have our Le Grappin Wines refills & bagnum AND new 2014 wines. Unlike the supermarket you can taste before you buy and we have something for every festive budget… Amazing!”
Beer by Hiver Beers: Ale made from honey! Simon tells me they were “Recently named Best Honey Beer at the National Honey Show. Pair the blonde with a buttered roast chicken or honey glazed pork or the ale with roast lamb and beef.”
Gingerbread by Billie: Did you see Billie’s creations at the Scandinavian Christmas Market a couple a of weeks ago? She’ll coming to the market as a special guest with gingerbread houses & xmas decorations.
Gluten free by Elvira’s Secret Pantry: Elvira’s cooking up “Xmas delicacies including dark chocolate, almond and run truffles, mince pies, spiced pumpkin bunt cake, nutty brownie and more. A selection of savoury tartlets and bread.”

Meat by Jacob’s Ladder Farms: 20% off organic legs of lamb. Jacob’s Ladder are a collective of tiny organic and biodynamic farms in East Sussex and Kent that farm using traditional methods with rare breed animals, and come together to sell at Crystal Palace Food Market, the only market that Jacob’s Ladder now attend. Help to support these tiny farms whilst knowing that animal welfare is always top of their list.
Handmade pasta from Pastificio Mansi: Head of Pasta Emanuela is making “Black truffle artichoke; Pecorino and thyme; Potato gnocchi; Broccoli, mascarpone, chilli; Goat’s cheese and beetroot; Tomato sauce.” Check out this great write up about Emanuela.
Cured sliced meats from The Charcuterie Board: Owen says “They huffed, and they puffed, but the did not blow the house down. It has been windy, but we are still here, and taking Christmas orders apace! It’s first come, first served, so reserve with us now to avoid disappointment. On the stall this week, we’ll have the usual suspects, ham sarnies, pies, sliced meats, beer sticks et al, but we’ll also have Scotch Eggs, and an example of our new shoulder ham. For anyone who wants a whole ham for Xmas, but can’t handle the monsters that we bring to market, this one is about half size, same cure, but from the front leg rather than the back leg of the pig. Oh, and crack(ling) is back(ling).”

Cheese from Blackwoods Cheese: Blackwood’s Cheese are an artisan cheesemonger based in Brockley, who use organic milk from Kent, and also have a selection of cheeses from Neal’s Yard.
Sustainably caught fish from Veasey’s: Dan says “Is it Fishmas yet? Another tough week this week but its calm out today [Friday], our bass are still stiff and gleaming and there will be plenty of those to go around in the morning. Our fish of the moment is gurnard and a couple of recipes for it can be found here. We also have a lot of squid coming up all fished around Eastbourne & Newhaven. Also don’t forget we have our famous fish pie mix every week, sold in 500g bags available if you want to make a comforting fish pie for these cold(ish) evenings.

Storecupboard refills from The Grain Grocer: Wade says “We’ve been working on some organic body products and some hand made raw chocolate. We don’t have much but please pop by for a run or a taste to let us know what you think.” You can now pre order on the website for click and collect.
Raw milk, butter, cream etc: From Hook and Son’s farmer Steve’s own organic herd near Eastbourne. There is sometimes ethically raised rose veal from their own herd, alongside organic yoghurt, butter, ghee, cream and yoghurt drinks.

Brockmans: Jason says “In true Brockmans style we have a phenomenal mix of leaves in the salad this week. Tat soi, mizuna, mustard and red orache among other things. Brambletye: Stein says “Dear all friends and customers, we have been reviewing our prices over the last weeks and have decided that we are able to offer our lovely produce at a lower price. As Christmas is rapidly approaching and we are all busy spending on presents for our loved ones we hope that by offering our wholesome produce at a better price that people will not have to compromise on enjoying nutritious and delicious fruits, veg and eggs! Interested in Beekeeping? Croydon Beekeepers are running a beginners course running on Tuesday evening lasting for 8 weeks starting on 2nd February 2016 7.30 till 9pm. This will be followed in the spring by a 4 week practical course in our teaching apiary. Want to volunteer at ‘The Triangle’, Barnados? Nicola says “We are able to offer volunteering opportunities for 16 year olds-up to elders and anyone in between. We offer comprehensive training which includes safeguarding, health and safety training etc. Like all organisations, individuals would have to fill in an application form, be interviewed and will also have to do DBS checks.
