CINEMA AND LIBRARY PLANS FOR WEST NORWOOD APPROVED
West Norwood’s new four screen cinema and library complex has moved a step closer after approval by Lambeth council’s planning committee.
The cinema, bar and café will be run by Picturehouse Cinemas Ltd in the Old Nettlefold Hall and Library building, and leased from Lambeth council.
Lambeth’s cabinet member for neighbourhoods Cllr Jane Edbrooke said: “It’s been a long time coming, but we really can see the prize at the end now.
“The cinema and library, following on from the new health and leisure centre will really help West Norwood realise its potential as a lively Lambeth town centre.”
An improved West Norwood library will share the building which was closed in 2011 after the copper roof was stolen and subsequently occupied by squatters who caused over £150,000 worth of damage.
The new complex is expected to be open by 2017.
