CHURCH ROAD TRADERS: MORE THAN 500 SIGN PETITION
STREET TRADERS in Church Road say more than 500 people have signed a petition supporting their bid for temporary licences.
The petition says the three traders should be granted temporary licences until their cases are heard in November.
News From Crystal Palace reported on September 23rd that the traders had been told to apply for licences after being reported for illegal trading.
One of the street traders, in an email to News From Crystal Palace said: ” I don’t think anyone would disagree that it has lost its vibe without the traders being there and it is very dismal at the moment.
“The thing is that Croydon actually encourage pop up shops and start up business in the area.
“These are derelict shops that we are in front of with the full permission of the landlords.”Between us we have been there three years, with the blessing of the public, the police, and the council.
“We just want to be licenced , but we feel that the council just keep moving the goalposts. “We are out in all weathers from 8am till 6pm, without any shelter or amenities supplied by Croydon. “All we are doing is trying to get a living!!”
